It's rare to come across a town so effervescent - where all of your senses are embraced in an indescribable vibe of comfort, joy, relaxation, but still a buzzing energy of life.
Let me start from the beginning and explain why Tulum Beach is like no other paradise I've visited.
When you first land at the airport in Cancun you're prepared for a typical palm tree, blue water vacation - from the bachelorette party in matching tees, the array of tropical prints and straw hats aboard the plane, you think have an idea of what you're in for.
The pleasant surprise is that instead of heading into the big city of Cancun, when you start your drive South to Tulum, you realize things are getting quieter and much more quaint.
Entering Tulum Beach, you enter a small main street lined with palm trees, festive 'papel picado' strung across the streets, restaurants, scooters, bikes, and cabs, and of course that beautiful blue ocean to your left. Continuing on you see brightly colored murals, a string of beachside resorts each with awe-inspiring entryways, the most amazing natural wood architectures and woven art pieces, and music coming from every venue.
The food in Tulum Beach was amazing, second to only the views you get with each meal. In addition to beaching and eating in town, we traveled to Dos Ojos Cenote AND Chichen Itza (one of the seven wonders of the world and worthy of it's OWN blog post - stay tuned!)
It's easy to say we'll be back...as soon as possible!
Casa Ambar - Boutique Hotel
This hotel is perfectly tucked away off the main street, but close enough to the action. It was in the middle of the hotel zone surrounded by bars, restaurants, stores, and easy-to-hail cabs. Perfect location!
Tulum Beach
This beach is in the hotel zone, but easily accessible if you stop in for a drink or food at any of the beachfront restaurants or bars. Further North is a public beach as well!
Mia Restaurant and Beach Club
We had fresh guacamole with housemade chips, pork tacos with pickled onion and an avocado cream salsa, a traditional margarita, and a gourmet angus burger...
Conestesia - Beachfront Dining
We had a shrimp and fish tostada, fresh tuna tacos, a mango margarita, and the Lola Bunny cocktail...
Street Art & Beautiful Things in Tulum Beach
The murals, woodwork, street art, and light displays were breathtaking...
Casa Banana - Argentinian Cuisine
Here we had a Argentinian sausage, skirt steak with chimichurri, a dulce de leche crepe with coconut ice cream, and a beat and goat cheese salad. Our cocktails were the Hot Balam, Lychee Martini, and the Maui. We stopped in TWICE because it was so good!
Cenote Dos Ojos
I have never seen water as clear and turquoise blue as the First Eye of the Dos Ojos Cenote!
Tulum City
Ahau - Brunch on the Beach
Here we had amazing huevoes rancheros, chilaquiles, a Mayan chia pudding bowl, whole grain toast, and a bloody mary!
Akiin Beach Club
This was a perfect spot to grab a couch or bed for some sunbathing and a dip in the ocean!
Mateo's Mexican Grill
We stopped in here because of the sign that said 'Best Fish Tacos on Earth' so of course we got baja style fish tacos (and a mango margarita!) and another gourmet burger!
Such a beautiful paradise! I love all your wonderful photos 💕
